Turning Local Problems into Statewide Solutions
Beans Gone Wild began as a tool to capture and share real-time field issues impacting soybean production across North Carolina. Built in collaboration with Extension Agents, Crop Consultants, and Industry Agronomists, the platform centralizes expert insights such as photos, diagnoses, and recommendations collected through field visits and digital consultations. With a searchable library and interactive map, it quickly became a go-to resource for identifying and managing emerging challenges.
Since its launch in 2023, Beans Gone Wild has documented 57 issues ranging from disease and insect pressure to herbicide injury and abiotic stress. These reports, submitted by a statewide network of specialists and agronomists, have reached over 700 users and generated nearly 4,000 page views. This level of engagement demonstrates the platform’s value to the agricultural community.
2025 Expansion into Other Crops
In 2025, the platform expands as Root Cause Reports, extending its coverage to include corn and laying the groundwork for other crops in the future. With the same intuitive tools and expert-backed content, Root Cause Reports continues to support North Carolina’s growers with timely, field-based solutions across multiple production systems.How to Contribute
